20 YEARS SINCE of the KHOJALY GENOCIDE Khojaly genocide which is one of the most severe criminals that took place not only against Azerbaijan people but to all humanity at the end XX century. This terror is the most cruel and ruthless event against humanity, a sorrowful and painful page in the history of our people. In the night when passing from 25th to 26th date on February in 1992 the armed forces of Armenia and Nagorno-Garabagh’s separator terror units who are originated from armeniens with parficipation of 366 motor-infantry regiment of USSR which placed in Khankandy made unparallel Khojaly genocide against Azerbaijan people. Armenians inflicted reprisals wildly to Khojaly people, during this terror thousands men with the inclusion old people, women, children were killed with special merciless, has been taken prisoner and hostage and the city had been destroyed completely. 613 persons had been killed in one night. Here include 63 child, to the old men, 106 women and 8 families had been recued to zero. Today 20 years had passed from this execution day and there must be carried out the more sufficiently and regularly works in the direction of giving lawful value to this event and to bring Azerbaijan justice about this tragedy to all world.
1. The book “Khojaly. Genocide of the 20th century” is published by the joint project of the socio-political affairs department of the Presidential Administration abd AzerTac in 2012, written in five languages. It has been 20 years since the Khojaly genocide one of the most terrible chapters of Azerbaijan’s history in the 20 th century. In terms of its level & horrible consequences, the Khojaly massairy was committed not only against the people of Azerbaijan, but also all humanity. All steps towards making the Khojaly tragedy known to a larger number of countries worldwide & its recognition as an act, of genocide are shined in the book.Khojali genoside-download here 2. The information about the names of the people who were killed, missed and taken prisoner during this tragedy and about one million sights which were collected according demand to recognize Khojaly events as a genocide act are given in the book “Khojaly genocide”
3. The book “Khojaly genocide” which was written by T.Chaladze based on documentary – chronicle. The appeal of alive Khojaly inhabibants to the world countries and people, to international organizations and courts are given in this book.
4. “Azerbaijan in terrorism claw” book reflects the tragedies and daredevil which the country faced time by time during the history.

The Azerbaijani culture – a message to future generations (About activity of the First Lady of Azerbaijan, the UNESCO Good Will Ambassador, Member of Parliament Mehriban Aliyeva)

The book is devoted to the activity carried out by, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, the UNESCO and ISESCO Good Will Ambassador, the president of The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the president of the Friends of Azerbaijan Culture Foundation, Member of Parliament Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva in sphere of culture, preservation and augmentation of a cultural heritage of our people, and also activity conducted in the UNESCO and ISESCO. Speeches made by the First Lady of Azerbaijan and the UNESCO Director General, as well as many other interesting materials are presented here.
On May 24, 2011 the measure connected with the “The First Republic Concourse of scientific-research works on library science, science of bibliography and science of book” devoted to the 20-th anniversary of restoration of the Azerbaijan Republic's state independence was held In Central Scientific Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Prominent scientists and cultural workers of Azerbaijan – the president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences M. Karimov, academicians A. Hashimov, N. Valikhanli, B. Nabiyev, A. Akhundov, associate members of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences doctor of philology T. Karimli, doctor of physical-mathematical sciences T. Ahmadov, doctor of medical sciences G. Hajiyev took part in the measure.
The director of Central Scientific Library of ANAS, doctor of philology Aybeniz Aliyeva-Kangarli opened the measure with preamble and informed the participants and guests about the concourse. She noted that the concourse was directed to the activation of scientific-research activity of the scientists and specialists who had labour in the improvement of library and information institutions.
About 30 authors took part in the concourse which was held with the organizational activity of the Presidium and Central Scientific Library of ANAS. The works introduced in the concourse, included monographs, methodical and bibliographic supplies, bibliographic indicators, booklets, training programs or manuals reflecting innovation, new methods and technologies and etc. All these were introduced in a printed and manuscript form.
Then the measure was continued with the speech of the chairman of Presidium and the president of ANAS M. Karimov who announced the results of the Concourse. According to the decision of the Presidium the winners were rewarded with the diplomas on eleven nominations.
The president of ANAS, academician M. Karimov was awarded to the special prize for his “Labour in development of library science”.
On May 6, 2011 the scientific session on the subject “The conception of science and culture of Heydar Aliyev” devoted to the 88th anniversary of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev's birth, was held in Central Scientific Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
The measure began with laying a wreath in front of the national leader's bust and his memory was remembered with a minute's silence. Then the measure was continued in the department “Popularization of Heydar Aliyev's heritage” of Central Scientific Library. Doctor of philology Aybeniz Aliyeva-Kangarli who opened the measure with preamble, greeted the participants and expressed her opinions about the national leader's life and political activity in a thesis form. In her speech Aybeniz Aliyeva-Kangarli also spoke about the work carried out in Central Scientific Library in the direction of research and popularization of Heydar Aliyev's heritage. She informed the participants about the activity of the department “Popularization of Heydar Aliyev's heritage” and noted social-political and theoretical-historical values of the works collected here.
The head of the department “Popularization of Heydar Aliyev's heritage” of Central Scientific Library, doctor of philology Gulshan Aliyeva-Kangarli made a speech on the theme “The summit of wisdom”. Then the head of the department “Azerbaijan studies” Sabina Muradova and the worker of the department “Popularization of Heydar Aliyev's heritage” Gunel Bagirova continued the measure with the themes “The great protector of our national culture” and “The popularization of the research of Heydar Aliyev's language policy”. They spoke about his labour, attention and care in all fields of our life.
More than thousand literature expressing Heydar Aliyev's many-branched and titanic activity were exhibited in the measure in a traditional and virtual form.

On May 5 the workers of Central Scientific Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences visited Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The guests, who came here connected with the 88th anniversary of great leader Heydar Aliyev's birth, were thoroughly informed of the activity of the Foundation. It was noted that the interesting photos and exhibits which were collected in the rich exposition, reflected the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev's life and activity.
The person of genius defined Azerbaijan's rescuing way with his efforts, and as a result of it, turning period started in social-political, social-economical and scientific life of Azerbaijan.
The Foundation realizes wide-scaled projects on science, education, culture, health and other fields. The rare documents which were taken from his personal archives, cover his childhood, youth and student years and different periods of his activity. The Foundation is also rich in photos which reflect various times of his life and create wide imagination about a whole period of Azerbaijan history, the presents given to him by well-known political men, books written about the great person and photos taken with leaders, cultural and art workers and scientists of different countries. All these roused great interest on guests. His honours diploma and certificate about higher and secondary education, certificate of approval for exemplary behavior, references from places of work characterizing him positively, photos taken in measures held in different regions of Azerbaijan and other Post-Soviet countries, personal things in his study made a great impression on visitors.
After acquaintance with the Foundation the workers of the Library watched the film “Moments of honourable life” about the great person's life and activity. The workers of Central Scientific Library left the Foundation with great impression.

World Summit Award Grand Jury 2007 Begins The Grand Jury has been convened in Brijuni, Croatia to review over 400 jurable entries to the World Summit Award. Hosted by the Croatian WSA partners, the e-Croatia State Secretary and organized by the Internet Institute of Croatia the WSA Grand Jury will evaluate broad range of off-line and on-line e-Content applications - all finalists selected in the framework of national WSA contests all over the world and proposed by the national experts to the Global WSA.

The Meeting of the Presidium of ANAS
On February 5, 2007 the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held. Directors of scientific institutions of ANAS and other organizations, scientists and specialists related on scientific reports have been invited there.
The meeting was dedicated to the discussion of year’s account of Central Scientific Library (CSL). Before the meeting an exhibition of books and scientific journals published by CSL and entered to the library in 2006 has been organized.

An ambassador of USA has been in the Library
The exhibition on the occasion of three-hundredth anniversary of great statesman and political figure Benjamin Franklin was opened at the Central Scientific Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse and President of ANAS, academician Mahmud Karimov viewed the exhibition, on November 22.
The visitors could familiarize with the stands of B. Franklin’s life and activity, books, encyclopedias and dictionaries from the US Congress Library, as well as books on US-Azerbaijan relations.

An ambassador of Germany in our Republic Stanchina has been in the Central Scientific Library
On October 25 at the exhibition hall of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS a meeting on the theme of “To the development of Scientific-cultural relations between Azerbaijan - Germany” on the frame of the project “People and books” of Germany and Azerbaijan was held.
The President of ANAS, an academician Mahmud Karimov, an ambassador of Germany in Azerbaijan Per Cristophey Stanchina, members of ANAS, CSL and embassy took part there.

The Director of CSL took part in the World book exhibition
From October 4 till 8 in Frankfurt (Germany) a traditional World book exhibition has been held. The Director of the Central Scientific Library (CSL), PhD of Philology Sciences Aybaniz Aliyeva-Kangarli have been there. She held double-sided and multilateral meetings, signed cooperative agreements with famous libraries and publishing houses of the world. “Mekong Press”, “Russia Online, inc”, library of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, library of Frankfurt University and others were included there. It must be noted that World book exhibition is held from 1949. 7272 members from 113 countries have demonstrated their printed productions at the exhibition. Generally, 286 thousand people were there. Our country has been in this 58th World book exhibition for the first time.
This event was evaluated in local TV channels of Germany and Mass-Media. The books reflected the history science, economy, music of Azerbaijan have been demonstrated at the exhibition.
The books in Latin graphics given by the order of the Leader of our State have arose great interest.
A Virtual book exhibition on the theme of “Yesterday, today and tomorrow of Azerbaijan Oil”
On September 29, 2006 at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS (SCL) for the first time in our Republic a traditional and virtual book exhibition on the theme of “Yesterday, today and tomorrow of Azerbaijan Oil” was held.
Opening the measure the Director of SCL, PhD on Philology Sciences Aybaniz Aliyeva-Kangarli informed about the historical way of Azerbaijan Oil during 150 years. Only at the end of the XX century after gaining independence Azerbaijan have got a chance to use this wealth. It was realized by World-wide leader Heydar Aliyev. more
An exhibition of new scientific journals in Central Scientific Library of ANAS
On June 21, 2006 at the Central Scientific Library (CSL) of ANAS an exhibition of new scientific journals was opened.
Members of Mass-media were there, too. A measure was opened by the Director of CSL, PhD on Philology sciences Aybaniz Aliyeva-Kangarli. She noted that scientific journals getting on agreement between Central Scientific Library of ANAS and the Library on Nature Study of Scientific Academy of Russia enrich periodical press fund of CSL PhD on Philology Sciences A.Kangarli stressed that the results of research works closely affected to information maintenance. That is why new scientific journals publishing in Russia take a great role in supplying with valuable scientific information of scholars, specialists and research workers, Recently more that 7000 scientific journals 154 named have been brought to CSL from Russia and thousands of reader-researchers have applied them.
On exhibition on “Suleyman Rustam - 100”
On April 11, 2006 an exhibition on “Suleyman Rustam – 100” organized by Central Scientific Library of ANAS was opened. The books of the national poet of Azerbaijan, the great patriot Suleyman Rustam, as “Some more about Love”, “Gafur’s heart”, “Grane”, “Peace songs”, “Spring thoughts”, “My son” and others, two volumes of “Selected works” printed in Latin and some magazines were demonstrated there.
An exhibition on “Molla Nasraddin - 100”
On April 10, 2006 an exhibition on “Molla Nasraddin - 100” organized by Central Scientific Library of ANAS was opened. Several copies of the magazine “Molla Nasraddin” published after 1906 the books “Molla Nasraddin’s poetry” and “Molla Nasraddin’s historical heroism” written by Islam Agayev, “Azerbaijan’s Molla Nasraddin” written by Aziz Mirahmadov, “Publishing history of Molla Nasraddin” by Nadir Akhundov, the book “How was Molla Nasraddin formed?” written by Aziz Sharifov, Azer Aliyev’s book “Mirza Jalil and Azerbaijan Press” printed in Latin and other journals and magazines about Molla Nasraddin demonstrated there.

In 2006, March 31 at the Central Scientific Library of ANAS an exhibition on “Genocide Day of Azerbaijanians”. The books and journals about historical facts committed by Armenians, V-VIII centuries literature about genocide, crimes of Armenians against our people in Khojali, deprtation and refugees themes had been demonstrated there.

There were more than 3000 books included all scientific areas which were issued for the period of 60 year's activity of ANAS, and also the books published by CSL.

On June 3, 2005 in the foyer of Institute of History named after A.Bakihanov the exhibition of books on a history,coming in to fund of Central Scientific Library for last 5 years has been organized. At the exhibition the books in Azerbaijan, English and Russian languages, have donative to the library and got abroad are submitted . Among of them the book of President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev «The Caspian oil of the Azerbaijan», V.Ibragimov - “Xalq? sev?n insan”, "Garabakh» , issued by the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS A.Shakhmatov - «The History of the Russian chronicle”.
