On February 5, 2007 the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held. Directors of scientific institutions of ANAS and other organizations, scientists and specialists related on scientific reports have been invited there. The meeting was dedicated to the discussion of year’s account of Central Scientific Library (CSL). Before the meeting an exhibition of books and scientific journals published by CSL and entered to the library in 2006 has been organized. It was opened by the first Vice-President of ANAS, an acad. Nariman Guliyev. Then the Director of CSL of ANAS, PhD on Philology Sciences Aybaniz Aliyeva-Kangarli reported. She informed about the results of scientific and scientific-organizational activity of CSL of ANAS in 2006. It was noted the XXI century, being the century of information brought new duties for libraries. The best of them is to create an opportunity entering world information area to use world-human intellectual potencial operatively. PhD on Philology Sciences A.Aliyeva-Kangarli noted that at present application of modern information technologies and other types of service were increased. In 2006 CSL improved its activity on librarianship, bibliography and scientific-research works on library-information field. They were widened, developed, also applied in different fields by getting the best results. In account year at CSL 31 research-works on 8 themes touching 2 problems in 1 scientific direction have been implemented on 46 stages. Nearly 16081, exactly 3752 copies of literature in foreign languages were received by the library. Total number of periodicals is 7299 (1917- in foreign languages), 7578 copies of literature have entered to network libraries. PhD on Philology Sciences A.Aliyeva-Kangarli also noted today library relates with 612 organizations of 65 states and holds literature and information exchange. During account year 4010 literature were received, also 330 books to Western countries, 914 to East European countries, 1514 literatures to the UIC have been sent. In a year 14980 alphabetical catalogues in Azerbaijan, Russian, East European and Western languages, 51375 of systematic catalogues, 5900 periodicals and publishing catalogues, scientific-edit of 19115 cards of bibliographic indexes, also restoration of books according to new standards, exactly 799 copies of literature were restored and bound again. PhD on Philology Sciences A.Aliyeva-Kangarli stressed that in account year by Scientific Council of the Library 10 meeting were held, 131 exhibitions (2 in abroad) were organized, also web-site of CSL were created. At the end of her speech she informed about unsolved problems of CSL, too. Afterwards academicians Bakir Nabiyev and Akif Hajiyev, corresponding-members of ANAS Vagif Farzaliyev and Ayaz Afandiyev reporting highly estimated the work of CSL of ANAS for 2006.
